The first picture (above) is probably shot around 1945 or 1946. On the right side (closest to the camera) is my mother, Josée Engels and on the left side is my mothers sister, Mariette Engels. A young man from the neighbourhood, the son of the village-photographer, was studying photography back then. Apparantly, my mother and my aunt were his two favorite models.
The second picture was shot in 1950. You can see my mother and my father (Edgard), walking around the village, probably on a sunday-afternoon. Also in the picture is my brother, Regi, who is 6 months old at the time and who is probably taking a nap when the photographer shot this. Me, on the other hand, well… I will be born, not less, than 20 years later.
This family shot was made around 1975. This means I’m 5 years old in this picture. Next to me is my brother and next to him is my mother. Top row from right to left is my oldest sister Marleen (with longest hair), my father and my youngest sister Gerda. One year later, my brother’s first son, Johan, will be born and I will be his uncle at the age of 6. :)
